HAIN es un sueño ritual de animación donde el mito del origen del pueblo Selk’nam de Tierra del Fuego se entrelaza con el imaginario de la Divina Comedia de Dante Alighieri
HAIN recrea la ceremonia secreta del Klóketen del pueblo Selk’nam según el relato del etnólogo Martín Gusinde, y sus registros fotográficos de la última ceremonia del Klóketen en la isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego en 1923. La obra también incorpora las grabaciones realizadas por la etnóloga Anne Chapman sobre los cantos ancestrales Selk’nam cantados por Lola Kiepja en 1965. La unión ritual de estos elementos crea un estado de suspensión del imaginario republicano, permitiendo asi entrar en la épica del mito del origen Selk´nam.

Le film HAIN est un rêve rituel animé où le mythe d’origine du peuple Selk’nam de Terre de Feu s’entrelace avec l’imaginaire de la Divine Commedie de Dante Alighieri.
HAIN présente la cérémonie secrète ‘Klóketen’ du peuple Selk’nam inspiré par des documents de l’ethnologue Martin Gusinde et ses photographies de la dernière cérémonie en 1923. Cette œuvre intègre aussi l’enregistrement sonore réalisé par l’ethnologue Anne Chapman sur les chants ancestraux de la chamane Lola Kiepja en 1965. L’union rituel de tout ces éléments crée un état de suspension dans l’imaginaire républicain du Chili afin de permettre l’entrée onirique dans le mythe d’origine Selk´nam.

HAIN is an animated dream sequence of the myth of creation of the Selk’nam people of Tierra del Fuego interwoven with the imaginery of Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy.
HAIN recreates the secret ceremony of the Klóketen of the Selk’nam people based on the diary of ethnologist Martin Gusinde, and his collection of photographs of the last ceremony of the Klóketen in Tierra del Fuego in 1923. The film also incorporates the recordings made by ethnologist Anne Chapman of the ancestral Selk’nam chants sang by the last known chaman Lola Kiepja in 1965. The ritual union of these elements permits the suspension of the Chilean republican imaginary which, in turn, liberates the entrance to the Selk’nam’s epic myth of creation.
